One of the more material attractions of this club (for me anyway) was the promise of a discount on parts at main dealers. Although the club makes it clear that not all dealers participate, I have yet to speak to anyone who has successfully claimed a discount from a dealer.

Please post your successes and failures re Main Dealer discounts.

I'll start...

No discount from Menzies of Stirling.

Discount from Henry Brothers of Glasgow.

Update:- Scothall BMW Hampshire are getting even better, now give 10% discount on parts

Scothall BMW Hampshire (My favourite dealership) give 5% discount on most parts, special order bits don't always receive the discount.

Woods of Bournemouth, one guy gave 5% discount once, other parts guys don't, I still like Scothall's... parts open till 6:30 in the evenings too!, and they take parts orders over the phone.

Did I mention Scothall's receptionists ?...

I agree about STERN's - their parts personnel really are the most helpful I've met - and I've even managed to get 20% on a few occasions!

Unlike COTSWOLD in Cheltenham - don't like them much!

Almondbury in Huddersfield has one of our guys as the parts manager.. good service at trade prices.

Sandal in Wakefield always did me a better than normal deal on my servicing.

I have found that a lot of the bigger dealers concentrate on chasing the corporate buck and politely decline to offer a discount to the membership..

We have been spoilt up here by having several dealerships that are active club members.. but then again we have put a fair bit of work into recruiting them, involving them with visits and concours events and generally making them feel part of the club.

No discount from John Clark in Aberdeen for me.

I was told that they don't have an agreement with any motoring clubs.

I have read on a different thread that discount is available on AC Schnitzer and Alpina parts but I guess that's for everyone who goes in the door, not just BMWCC members.

Williams of Rochdale gives a 10% discount on
parts - I had hoped for more. But they proved very good when I booked in
an E30 325 Sport for an Inspection II under the Four Plus scheme - not
only was the discount much more generous, they made other
(discretionary) efforts to cut the bill.

"Barons of Farnborough's policy is that discounts such as this are at the Parts Manager's discretion. Currently he says Yes. "

Same policy at LIND Colchester. I happened to get served by the Parts Manager yesterday and asked. At my discretion he said, and promtly allowed me 10% on my purchase.

I'm kicking myself for not asking before now.

If you are served by a bod does it follow that you have to ask to speak to the manager each time you want 10% off?

Cooper BMW in Reading offer no discount whatsoever...The guy almost laughed at me when I asked (on a waterpump for my E30 M3)...

I haven't asked re servicing, but my guess, from his reaction and the stoney stare from the other bloke on service reception, is that the answer will be a firm "no"...

Anyone know a decent dealer around the area that does give discounts?

Fawdingtons Newcastle do offer discount on parts, but it varies, and depends on the part!  (probably none on the part you actually want!)

Elvert in Durham which is a new dealership on Belmont Industrial park do offer 10% on all parts (strangly, this is part of the Mill group who DO NOT offer discount!)

I agree Sterns are most helpful, but when they moved from Evesham to Worcester they were no longer on my route into work. However they still offered to get me parts - with a variable discount 5% to 20%(!) depending on their mark-up - AND deliver them to me at work - foc!

(Mind you, I've got Cotswold in Cheltenham trained to give me discount now as well!)

I phoned up Scothall Southampton on 3rd Jan 2006 asking if they gave discount. They asked ' Why should we give any discount to you?' I answered,' Because I bought the car ( a 116i sport) from you.' They replied that they would give me a price for any extras but no discount. So far I have found this company to be very business orientated , that is making money, to the detriment of pleasing the customer. They have an attitude problem! This is evident in the way they relate to the customer.Maybe I have been spoilt as my last car was a Lexus and they go out of their way to please and build up good customer relations.

Wouldnt it be great if the club was to actually find out, agree with the dealer and publish the details of which dealers give what.

Once one did it Iam pretty sure the rest would follow suit, especially where there is competition in local areas.

Come on BMWCC, sort it out. Earn that membership fee!

Offered the choice of FourPlus or BMWCC discount for parts at Dunedin Selkirk, FourPlus worked out cheaper, so they told me.

Wasn't impressed with club discount when BMW Dealership can offer a bigger discount. I have been / am Very happy with the service at my dealership and get on really well with them all, very professional, efficient and will do go out of their way to assist you. Cool

Note: Ask for a FourPlus price then get someone else to ask for the BMWCC Discount on the same part(s) note the difference!

Four Plus is a labour discount. You should then be able to get a parts discount AS WELL using the BMWCC discount if the dealer honours the scheme.

Birminghams BMW dealers at Rydale Central in the city centre offer a 10% discount on parts & labour.

As do Sytner Solihull who I always use. Excellent service from everyone and extremley helpfull on all issues.

Sytner - Loughton, Essex (Used to be Chigwell but have moved), do offer a discount and are always very helpful to me and dont request me to pay for parts until they have them in stock.

The only dealer I had no luck whatsoever with was Eastern of Edinburgh.

All the other dealers I have used; Calterdon, Dunedin of Edinburgh and Soper of Lincoln have been very obliging.

Haus Schmid in Elzach in Germany gave me 10% on parts which was nice of them.

and my local dealer in west london (HR Owen Holland Park) always give me 10% and are very helpful people to boot (even if they did manage to spray hot coolant all over the cars interior, not once but twice!! - they did pay to sort the damage btw).

That could be down to no one going in to contact DP at the dealer (Adopt a dealer)

Not that the dealer discount would justify joining for only tho.

you yourself have tried to forge relationships with jc in the past; exactly what does "adopt a dealer" give them in return?

both calterdon and john clark refuse to discount for car clubs

I'm surprised by stephenperry's comments about no main dealer discount - when i was in Inverness I had no bother with Calterdon.

I bought two 3 series and 2 5 series all through them. david Barker was the man to deal with on parts, although I believe he is in another role as well.

Eastern in Edinburgh were disgusting the way they treated me.

Sopers are still fantastic to deal with although some of their parts guys are younger than my car!!!!

Stratstone in Chesterfield, Derbyshire really appreciate their relationship with the BMWCC and parts dept. (speak to Adrian) will help supply the parts if you are experiencing problems with your local dealer.

Harry Fairbairn Giffnock do - I said "I've been told that I should get 10% discount for being a BMWCC member" - they said no problem, have never asked to see my card and when I phone to order stuff and ask for them to put club discount on they put it through as trade discount.

Bearing this in mind I've never actually checked the numbers on the invoice to see that it is 10% and not 7.5% or something!

I don't have any problems with Batemans in Grange over Sands, Cumbria. I get 10% when I show my membership card. Mind you, given the money I spend there it is the least they could do.

Seems Stratstone Taplow have changed both their policy (a lot of haggling to get a paltry 5%) and their staff who are rude and offhand.

Not recommended anymore

Hi duncan/i have made quite a few savings thanks to my cc membership(and this is my first yr just coming to an end in sept/oct). Since the start of this yr i have had 10/15 per cent off parts and labour/1 oil servc;wiper motor failed just a few months out of wrnty, bmw paid half cost under good faith, then agreed to pay the other half of the parts cost(over 300qd part)seeing i was a cc member(i only paid 100qd labour/instead of 430!);discount also on a new rear spring and a window lifter/reg kit i bt off them and got fitted at my own garage. all in all, aprox 370pounds saved!!

The helpfull dealer is Harry Fairbairn,IRVINE(Currently owned by arnold clark).

PS:These repairs have been the only ones needed since i bt the car early 2007/the rear spring being an mot job!,so up til then it hadnt needed even a servc/just done when i bt it;so cheap motoring til now, haha
