Still waiting for Cheshire Constabulary to get their act together. Have now invested in a radar detector to (hopefully) avoid any further incidents. One thing that has come to light is the time on the NIP, it doesn't fit in with what I was doing that day. I dropped my wife off 10 mins before the stated time some 11 miles away. It's all town traffic, no speeding here, so I reckon plods clock must have been wrong. No way of proving this of course. Last time up north I recreated the scenario at the same time of day and it took me 23 mins to get to where I was allegedly caught. It's an M5 but it doesn't fly, your honour!

the only action you can take is to aslk the plod to confirm that the equipment had been calibrated and was being used in accordance withte manufacturer's instructions - it's amazing how many time this works! Evn the plod have other things to do than acrry out what seem to be meaningless tasks...

Anymore news mate??? It's really good to hear someone sticking two fingers up at Blair's speed tax!! They'd be better off checking speeds outside schools, I wonder how many women in 4x4's they would catch going above 30?????

Quick update, still nothing from the highly organised boys in blue but With all the high profile publicity about unsigned NIPs, I presume they are snowed under with useless pieces of paper. Found a good website for such matters, try www.safespeed.org.uk/unsigned.html

In the recent past I watched a tv program, 999 or police camera action, or something similar. The whole program was devoted to the met transporting a kidney from an airport ( I think ), to a hospital in the center of london, where some poor sod was waiting to have it put in. The two cars had roadblocks, used blues and two's, and broke every regulation, as indeed they should in those circumstances. They made it, the op was done, and at the end of the program they interviewed the lady who had had the operation, obviously some months later. She was fine, and very humbled at everyones efforts. I know it isnt the met who have nicked this poor paramedic, but if one lot can be glorified on a tv prog, why do the lincolnshire cretins in blue think an ambulance driver on an empty motorway in the middle of the night, doing exactly the same thing as the met boys did in the middle of the day, should be done and sacked ? I hope the cretin behind this decision gets the boot, or better still is hurt one day and suffers because the paramedics are too frightened to speed. |

I agree, I was totally disgusted to read of that poor paramedic! Why is is Jack Straw's driver got away scott free doing 103mph, but some poor, overworked, underpaid paramedic is made to suffer? The Met seem to have something that very few other forces have, common sense! Have the Police forces now got so much "red tape" that they are unable to use a bit of common? I'm not sure how he was caught, but I can't believe that an Ambulance would actually be stopped for speeding? What's next? Mobile mechanics being stopped for carying "offensive weapons"? Electricians being accused of "going equipped"?? They'll pull bus drivers over for "curb crawling" soon! |

I work with a mate, we're plasterers in the building trade. He got stopped once and was questioned by mr plod why he was carrying a stanley knife in the back of his van. Seams to me that the constabulary can be hard of thinking sometimes. How many times have you seen jam rags put their sirens and lights on just to beat the traffic congestion. One rule for them and lump it for the rest of us.

I recently got nicked on the A68 and if you like you're photo taken by mr Gatso take a visit. Every straight has a camera. Long queue behind a 40 ft'er, doing 40mph, as he should be. On the first straight available had to wait until past Gatso and made my move. Sped past in passat TDi estate, pulled in and let my speed gradually slow down and next thing see the lovely blue lights flashing in my mirror. Done for 76 with vascar, should have said where were you last week when i was doing over 100 mph in my e30 M3.....waited for their response and said it was at Knockhill, take a spin. Anyway my point is should i have backed suddenly after overtaking the 40 ft'er to reduce my speed to 60 thus causing the truck to break heavy or crawl past @ 60mph leaving myself and any possible oncoming car in danger or sit behing the 40 ft'er for the next 30 miles and building up road rage. Can't win anyway i look at it. No questions of why i happened to be travelling at that speed, just needed to get thier quota for the day.They seem to have their common sense taken away on their entry training to traffic.

Dont want to seam like a kill joy but I am in favor of traffic calming especially in built up areas how many times do we all see flowers straped to lamp posts were someone has been killed often by a pissed up kid in a stollen car Ask any Police officer or paramedic its not a good place to be at the scene of a fatel raod accident trust me Ive been there. |

Rutter, No-one here condones speeding when it is not safe, or inapropriate I.E. In built-up areas, outside schools or on housing estates. What we ask for is a bit of common sense. In my opinion every residential street on an estate, and outside schools should have their speed limits lowered to 20mph, but to be pulled like 215M3 is totally ridiculos! Overtaking is safer with more power, you are able to get passed an obstruction when it is safe leaving yourself less vunerable to other road users. The fact of the matter is, speeding is used as another government stealth tax! There is not one person that has never broke the speed limit on occasions, but only when it was safe to do so. But how can you stop joy riders from speeding? What are speed bumps or gatso's to someone in a stolen car? Please don't get me wrong, I have every sympathy for these people that are knocked down by some pratt in a car who was drunk or just careless. But shorely the problem is better addressed by all sides, cars, bikes, pedestrians and cyclists? I do not mean to offend anyone who reads this, and may not agree. This is just my humble opinion and I do not mean any harm to anyone, and I appologise if I do cause upset to anyone. Thanks, James
