don't think so - just a spectator. Wouldn't fancy having to fork out any extra cash on the car at the moment!!

Out of interest - Whats the prefered Go-Go juice for track days, Premium of some sort I suppose (Stop all that pre detonation etc) no point in cheapo 95.  A friend tried the new shell V Power in an E39 2.2 auto and said there was a considerable difference and it nowhere near premium prices

Will be on fumes tomorrow evening so any advice appreciated.

Well, there was an article in the Sunday about the claims made for these special petrols. They took a car on a rolling road running on ordinary unleaded and these 'better' petrols and found no difference in perfomance. The conclusion was that you pay out extra for nothing.
But I guess the only way to know is try it an see if you notice a difference.

I used octane booster the last time I went out - wouldn't recommend it though, have heard a variety of stories about engines going pop when using it. I'd just stick to what you normally use.

Sadly no Hartge kit has arrived....therefor little chance of getting it fitted before Saturday. This is after Birds said it would be with me by last Friday, then Monday, Tuesday, Wendesday. Wednesday was cut off date. So I am not best pleased....In any case, looking forward to meeting up and having good day

Promising continually and not delivering, you'd think they were an Irish company

Sorry Killian,

Looks like I am not going to be able to make it as a driver on Saturday.  Rear end bushes are shot, and I was trying to get my car in to get them done before the day, but no luck.  It would be just plain dangerous to go on the track as it is.  Also I still don't really have enough miles on my newly re-built engine yet - was hoping it would be ready for the day as well, so am a bit disappointed.

Re: Octane Ratings - Higher octane fuel (or using octane boosters) will only have a positive effect if your engine is not running to its full potential on the fuel you are currently using.  i.e your engine management computer's knock sensor is detecting pre-ignition and is retarding the timing accordingly.  For modern BMW's, this should only really be an issue with high compression engines (m3's or m5's) running on low (95) octane fuel.  I could be wrong, but you would be unlikely to see a benefit on most vehicles.

Work commitments have forced a change of plan which means I might make it for a couple of hours but need to be in Carlingford by 6pm...

South of the border, there are only two fixed cameras on the N1/M1 AFAIK and they are on the Southbound stretch as you approach Dundalk & Drogheda (about 10 miles before).
There may be many mobile patrols though.
Anyway, unless you are stopped you won't be fined and you cant get points.

Wifey gets stressed when I get excited & 'fail to stop'.....

.....only kidding!

By all accounts the southbound camera is having quiet snooze after a recent ram raid by concerned individuals
