Flies !!!!

Hi guys,

Washed my car for the first time for two weeks last night, and it took me longer to clean the front bumper than the wheels!!

Does anyone know of a decent product out there that will assist in the removal of these pests?

Best/Cheapest solution I have found is to dilute a good quality car shampoo 50/50 with water and spray that on to the worst areas and allow it to soak in for a while, the flies then just wash off

Use a good quality Spray on wheel cleaner very sparingly as they are very acidic (Meguairs Hot wheels is one of the better ones) And don't let the brake dust bake on in the future

I think I'll also change back to Mintex pads as the Ferrodos are a nightmare, one good drive and the wheels are caked!

I use Wonderwheels on my alloys, and I really cannot fault it.

For dust that has been left for a while, it may take a couple of applications but it always seems to come off.

 

I polish my motor with zymol cleanser wax, then field glaze, and even baked on flies drop off after a few second with the hose.

wonder wheels is really good, not just alloys but tailpipes too (just mke sure they are stainless NOT chrome!) but on  the allys its best to seal them with wax after.

Its when they are baked on that they are a real pain.

I used to get the fekkers off my motorbike screen using a towel that I had soaked, wrung-out, then microwaved [truly!] to get it steming hot. Sort of like those things you get after a biriani and before the kulfi arrives, only full size.

They come off the front of the car quite easily mind you, so I haven't had to resort to the hot towel method.

For removing flies I use a product called Amberclens, made by Ambersil, it's a foaming aerosol cleaner used for computer cleaning I think... Spray it on the screen or the paintwork, it foams up, leave about a minute then just wipe it off bugs and all... easy. lots of companies use it (maybe yours does too..) but I don't know where you can buy the odd can. I also use wonderwheels and it is nasty stuff but does a great job.

Getting them off...I use Zaino (I am the UK distributor...)

Getting them on - this is a friend's 911, after a top speed run in Germany. 172mph on speedo, 164mph on GPS.

What about F1 helmet visor rip-offs (pun in there somewhere!) just take a big sheet of cling film and replace every 100 miles.
