Just though i would pass on some feedback on my rolar coaster of triumph and disaster regarding my brakes and wheels. The Bad news, While the 16" wheels could be made to fit over the 850 brakes it required such a large set of spacers that the wheel could not reach the hub meaning that the wheel would not centre properly. Therefore the wheels would not safely fit over the brakes. Also with the spacers on the wheels stuck out so far they looked very strange. So it was decided to remove the 850 brakes and revert back to standard. The good news I now have my car suited and booted with the proper 16" black centred alpina's and the brakes are working well. one thing i did not bother to take of was the uprated master cylinder from the 750 and i would say the results are very nice as there is no severe pedal movement that all sixes suffer from before the brakes come in. Now the brakes feel much more like a later model e39/e43 car for touching the brake pedal and you feel something there. So i now have the car looking how i want it, but have spent a small fortune on a brake conversion and three months later am back on original brakes. |

*kof!* *hack* *splutter!* Me? Tout for business? Errm, hardly - personal bankruptcy is not an area I deal with anyway. I offered my suggestion merely as common-sense advice. And it was free |

You might be well-advised to instruct a Solicitor specialising in personal bankruptcy, just in case.... We don't want to be losing that lovely fitted kitchen so soon after installing it, now, do we??? Edited by Horsetan |

James,
Two tips 1 = Have a good Holiday and 2 = don't look at the Bank statement until you have driven your pride and joy after ML have worked magic on it. |

Well to fill you in on recent developments i had a long chat with Barney at Munich legends and they feel they can achieve two things. Firstly they can get the 850 brake set up working how i would like it to and secondly they will space and tune up things so the wheels will fit. I have agreed to leave them my car whilst i go away on holiday and they will fidle with it over a week and have it all working as it should. I will write them a blank cheque and hope it's not to exspensive to get things sorted out. Will probable end up with stainless hoses, spacers and new master cylinder seals. I can't wait and don't car now as i want things fixed and up and running. I have not had my car for about two weeks now and thats long enough. |

-yeah, spacers has to be the way to go, if you just need 2mm. I am surprised about the spongeyness with your setup, is it possible you need more bleedin' bleeding?
cheers

James, if you are still interested in uprating your brakes, try Hi Spec.
The bloke down there will go through everything before they make them for you. I am going to get a set of Monster 4-pots made up when I get my car back on the road. DawieM3 has a set of Moster 6's on his M3 Racer, and we were outbraking a 996 Porsche @ Brands! Even as a passenger, I was really impressed with the braking, granted it was a racer, but it still was impressive! On a personal note, if you use the car for road use, then I would run spacers. Get the decent Eibach ones, Bexley Motor Works have more info on those, they are very good. HTH, James |

Here's an engineering opportunity for Sohlman (assuming he's got some spare cash left over...)
Good news: you might be able to acquire that M6 24v engine you always wanted... Bad news: it's being parted out by FAB Direct. Chances are they've sold the vital bits already....! Edited by Horsetan |
