On the scooby website, they have a "was it you" section where, if you'd had a bit of a race with another subaru, you could find out who it was & what mod's they'd had done etc.
Since having my M3 I've had a couple of high jinx encounters with other M3's so thought I'd find who it was. M11 northbound from London to M25 junction at 11:40am today whilst travelling at ***mph I noticed something rapidly growing in my mirrors. Within a few seconds I realised it an M3 so floored it. We were soon doing double what we should have been onto the M25 slip road, but, alas went diffent directions. If it was you, it's good to see someone else driving it how it was meant to driven & following through that gap onto the slip road was filth Hope we meet again with less traffic. Oh & thanks to the M11 track officials for providing such a great straight for speed testing. Mine tops out at exactly 156 (I of course calculated that, as actually going that fast would be silly, honest guv) Paul Edited by M3PSM |

"How it was meant to be driven" at double the speed limit in traffic............. Don't get me wrong, i'm no saint but those sorts of speeds are probably best left for the track or at least traffic-free roads......... |

Fair enough. Each to their own.
With no oncoming traffic, 3 lanes & clear visibilty I can choose my "safe" places & travel at a speed I feel I can avoid trouble at. This speed varies for everyone & there is always a risk attached, i.e. puncture, someone rapidly & unpredictably changing lanes etc. but I've not had an accident, car or bike in over 15 years & feel confident with both my perception of danger & my car control. Like I say though, each to his own. I may be eating my words next time out & pick up a ban. Paul |

There's a Gatso southbound where it goes into two lanes near the A406 & often a mobile at the same location (not sure why, maybe he has a longer range or to catch people before they brake for the Gatso) but there are no SPECS below the Harlow junction or I'd have been locked up by now (for a long, long time).
Watch out for the unmarked blue Volvo though. It's usually about on Saturday's. Paul |

Would this be open for just M cars or M car owners other cars. Just that i was sitting at a certain speed and car came from behind with all his lights on. irritated me. Showed my rear foggies and he pulled up next to me giving me abuse. He had a brand new RS focus 212bhp jobbied. I floored my MB and left him for dust and he got more flustered. Enjoyed that very much. Great Q car.

I was in an E28 M5 many years ago near Macclesfield, an E36 M3 came up behind so close I couldn't see his front number plate. What a w***er I thought and floored it up to about 120 on a 70mph A road. A mile or two later, he overtook me, pulled in front and from his parcel shelf up folded a red LED screen that said **POLICE**STOP** Lesson learned - always check your opponent first

Speaking as a solicitor, my strong feeling is that this sort of thread is not a good idea. |

Watch it mate - that's defamatory.
And what do estate agents know about the law? And what do I know about selling real estate? That's like getting mixed up between an astronaut and a bag of fish. I rest my case, m'lud, the defendant hasn't got a clue wot he's talking about, but he is very very funny!!! |

Speaking as an idiot, it is my strong feeling that this thread could prove fun.
We don't spend so much money on such fast cars to do a couple of track days a year do we???? Mmmm, maybe we do. Maybe we only buy them for the badge. Personally, I bought a fast car to drive fast wherever I feel safe doing it, but that's just me. If I wanted to stick to the limits I'd buy a Caterham for the track & an escort |

Who said it wouldn't be fun?
You're reading far too much into what I said. If you have a bad accident and the finger of blame is pointing in your direction - let's be pessimistic and imagine a pedestrian is rendered a tetraplegic, or someone is killed - insurers (who resort to the law at the drop of a hat) and the crown prosecution service are going to do everything they can to build a case against you. You might think it's unlikely that anything you say one here would ever count against you, but I wouldn't be so sure. A self glorifying street racer isn't going to look very clever in court. Any idea what the penalty is for causing death by dangerous driving? Am not a kill joy - just wouldn't want a bit of fun to backfire on you. End of submission. |
