This has to be the strangest thread, ever! I have only peripheral knowledge of computers but agree with Mick525i that fozzymandeus should be the winner...

Raptors are good for system disks, in Raid 0. Storage disks are fine using the new perpendicular harddrives which provide close enough performance for much less money.

It's a good system Nero, it'll serve him well! I wanted the 2.6ghz quadcore but it was twice the price! I couldn't justify it on a students wage! How does he feel the raptor drive is? I don't know if i should get one or not... hmm

He's now got it setup so that he gets a Vista score of 5.9 (the maximum

Are you running a 64bit Windows or Linux?

Yes, running 64bit rendering packages too, 3DS Max 9, Autocad 2008 etc, so with these programmes, I really need 8gb ram running high mhz's. I know xp doesn't support 8gb. I'd rather run XP tho.

The 4gb is still good though.

Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz
OCZ Reaper 9200 4gb RAM @ 1150mhz
Western Digital 500gb7200rpm hdd
Iomega 320gb external
Mitsubishi Diamondtron 22" CRT monitor (perfect flat display)
EVGA 680SLi Motherboard
EVGA GTS 640mb 500mhz (i think) graphics card
Creative 5.1 surround sound
OCZ 850watt power supply
Asus Silent Knight CPU Cooler (does the trick- cpu runs below 40degrees c)
LG DVD multi region with lightscribe
Antec P182 case - fantastic. it's insulated so that heat from power supply does not enter the main space where components are.
