what i was trying to ask is the original 225 on 15 " rims 60 profile no tramlining so if I put 225 x17 50 profile will this help. The cicumfrence is also closer to original than 235 tyres.
Regards Alan thanks for your comments |

Mick,
There are Dunlop SP2000s on the 520i which I'm driving - there's about 10k miles on them. I find that the grip is noticably poorer then with the Dublop 9000s which I had on my e46. I think that if your alignment is out then it certainly won't help things but I don't think they're a wonderful tyre in general. John |

That would be Nankangs you have on your car - generally deemed to be total muck. I would stick to the 235/45 tyres and go for something like the excellent Falken 512 or 452's if you want to keep the costs down or elso go all out with a set of the Goodyear Eagle F1's (not a whole lot more expensive mind you)..... |

You will be surprised at what a difference to the steering and handling of a car correct wheel alignemnt makes! It was like night and day when I had it corrected on my 5. BB |

I don't really have an issue with tramlining on my E39 (Goodyear Eagle F1) but whether its the tyre or just luck - I don't know. Wider tyres will increase the likleihood of tramlining. Going down 1cm in tyre width won't make that much difference IMO.

Well I just spoke to my man who has done the 4 wheel aligment and he said the front was miles off. The back was fine. Ill find out exactly what miles of means when I pick it up later. I have to drive to Derry tomorrow morning so Ill know by lunchtime if its done the job or not. Thanks for your input guys. Mick |

I'll double check the sizes later; bretty sure it's 35/30 on mine. We use Ballybrit Exhaust and Tyres in Oldenway, Ballybrit (beside Windsor) for all things wheel related. I know that Digweed uses them, too. |

For an E39 ? Are you sure it wasn't 235/45/17's & 265/40/17's that you got ? Where did you get them fitted for that ? I've heard Clonboo Tyres are supposed to be pretty reasonable ? Any recommendations in Galway on who will fit/balance tyres bought elsewhere ? |

I got 4 Falkens (2x 235/35/17 & 2x 265/30/17) from my local fitter for less than you paid your guy for the Dunlops, and that included getting the alignment done.

As per Kin's comments, I've had a few tyres from Eiretyres this year for the various cars on the fleet and my local fitter registered with them has charged a tenner a wheel for fitting, balancing and disposing of the old ones. |

€35 per wheel? WTF! What are they using their dicks to mount the wheel? I don't pay more than €10 per wheel and that of course includes balancing. It does suck when you are in a hurry though. I would have thought Dave McCann would match or come very close to eiretyres? Dave has said just try him and he will see what he can do. |

I did look at this but I had wire on one of the back tyres and had a trip to Derry to do. Eiretyres could take 5 days and then fitting was going to be €35 per wheel ..... Mick |
