Steve, actually not too bad   Not set in stone, but we should have one installed, up and running by August.

Having used virtually all the top machines, there is only one I would buy.....drum roll......The Dastek.

Its the only machine that has been totally repeatable everytime I have used it. Also the flywheel figures always appear correct considering the mods done, or not done. The weather station is built into the dyno too, and is constantly being updated automatically during operation and does not rely on the operator to enter in untrue figures. The list goes on....

From my very limited readings on the subject, Dynapack seems well regarded as a good dyno, mainly as it attaches to the hubs and reduces factors such as wheel slippage etc... Also easily transportable

The one at silverstone is the only one in the uk and one of only 2 in the world isn't it?

I'm booked in for a rr day with my impreza and about 25 others, at the wrc tech one at silverstone on the 8th July. i've never had the scooby on the rollers but loads of the others have so i'll be able to let you know what differences they find.  +

Hope that it's not too far out as i'm hoping to see around 280bhp. although i guess it will be nearer to 240bhp.

Yes, it is the only one in the UK, but what the hell do you want 2400BHP capability at the wheels for? That dyno uses pull downs, which when used on my car lost 20BHP, undo them so they are "loosely" fitted and it gained 20BHP. So with how hard you need to ratchet up the pull down straps to prevent traction problems on a high powered car, there must be a BIG question on how reliable those figures would be!!!!! There's a big arguement between a few dyno's and who's the best. But my money isn't with that machine.

Not as much as I would have thought. I'll have 2

Paul, out of interest, how much does one of these rolling roads cost?

Just sending out PM's to those that attended to confirm figures- if you could all get back to me ASAP that would be appreciated.

There was a slight technical glitch as I had a list of cars that was 1 out as one car is not being featured although was there on the day- apologies for the couple of incorrect PMs I sent out and I will be sending revised ones shortly.

Regards,
Aaron

Yes Brian, it is the Dyno Dynamics dyno. Its ok, as long as they do not strap the cars down, as they do not do coast downs with that dyno, when they do it is way out...I have 1st hand experience of this with one of those dyno's.

NO!  You'll need more than 2 runs to get the correct power output if they have the dyno I think they have.....

Here's the link Paul. They were advertising in Evo for dyno days from £30 per car.

erhhhh, sorry, but are you insinuating that i and other people who have
posted are 'crap' ?

I hope you mean something else...
DYNO'S  Not the people posting, But how many times does it take to realise that dyno days arn't worth it, i dont know of a correct dyno and this proves it again SO WHY DO YOU ALL BOTHER, STRAP IT ON A PROPER ENGINE DYNO LIKE EDA OR KNIGHT RACING SERVICES, that will show you engine power if that is what floats your boat ????

Ah! but whos to say the engine dyno will be correct? Also 20 odd people removing thier engines in the car park on a Saturday just to have a dyno print out of thier engine is going a bit too far  Dyno days are good for club socialising and get togethers. Also can be good for spotting faults with your car that you didn't realise were there (ie rich running, lean running, brakes binding, etc, etc) But you would already know that!

Paul

why would i already know that ?, i was mearly saying that there has been 12 ? pages about incorrect dyno figures

Oops i went and got an E36 !
