So what was it like in the DTM M3???

John

A properly sorted E30 M3 is still 'King of the Ring'

I know alot of race drivers, and the like, say the Grand Prix circuit is boring. I didn't think so. I didn't think hanger straight was as long as it looked on TV either. I think the width of the circuit gives you a false sence of security and lurred you into turning in to stow and bridge too early. Get them right, and these corners are brilliant. I didn't, and never have driven the circuit, but as a passenger I could tell what it would be like to drive this circuit.

Hopefully the BMWCC will be there again next year, and hopefully on the GP circuit. If so, then I'll be one of the first in the queue to book.

Paul,

I have probably said this before but it is worth repeating. Like you I was expecting it to be a relatively easy circuit especially in a low powered car like an E30 M3 but the reality was very, very different as it is very technical and the straights seemed to be much shorter than I has planned for. It was very satisifying to got the odd corner right

I will be back again like a shot.

A big, big thanks to everybody who made it possible and profitable, a hard line to draw.

Thank you.

yes, a big THANKS!

Especially to Richard that he shared his car with us. Must have been a lot of stress for him to run the engine in with a break every two laps and watch the water temp gauge raising to 100deg till the passenger was belted up!
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

I know that Siverstone is different to, say, Donnington, but not really a boring circuit, as there is now quite a lot of technical stuff as well as the older style sweepers.

My car definitely prefers Stowe, Copse and Bridge to those interminable last two corners. You seem to lean right over on the front outside corner and just wait for fine weather before daring to apply any power, otherwise the weight goes straight to the back and you understeer to the outside of the track.

I thought the day was a fabulous one, and hope to go back again.  Perhaps we could alternate the CSL Track day with Silverstone and Donnington?

next time i go i want some breaks always thought they were crap now i know why, they supplied the wrong master cylinders you need three ton of leg strenght just to slow down they are only 4 sizes to big and will do 2 1/2 pistons ill have them porsches then the only place they got near was on the brakes i was braking 150/200 yards before them destroyed them out the bend and down hanger straight, i too would love to do donnington also cadwell park , fantastic circuit and the scenery is stunning only did about 40 laps and my tires are scrap. oh yes brian have you recovered from your experience ?by the way i own the car and cant get a copy anywhere

It was awesome fun Wayne ! For some reason I did grab for the roll cage when your friend wrong slotted a gear coming down the box, and I'm guessing, locked the rear wheels, snapping the car sideways at about 70mph

Errr. He did tell you he had done that , didn't he ???

I did that in a Formula Vauxhall Lotus back in 1989/1990, through beckets, snatched the wrong gear which locked the rear wheels, made me tighten the line into the 1st left apex, which the rumbles were more like speed ramps back then, launched me in the air and I landed on the osf wheel on the right bit of beckets on an equally high speed ramp....errr...curb. Lots of damage! And a bit more experience.

From then on, I've always heeled and toed on the track.
