Just wondering how many other M owners have had this experience.Had the car 4 weeks and so far on a weekly basis somebody has tried to 'race' me.
Latest being a bloke in a Ford Puma, with his girlfriend, who came flying up in the next lane, slowed so he was in my blind spot for about 10 seconds then pull along side me.Told me he thought I was a 'referee'using sign language before doing off.I suppose he might have been jealous as I only look about 21,or thought I had bagdged a 318,but was there any need for it.I was minding my own businees cruising at 45ish in a 50 zone on a lovely sunny day.Unfortunatly/fortunately I gave in and showed him that it was an M car on the next slip road onto the motorway. Strangely it seems it's onwers/drivers of other performance cars that give the most respect. |

Whilst not exactly an M car(!), believe it or not I do get chavs trying
to race me in my chevette. Of course their tupperware specials beat me
as I only have about 55bhp to play with, but they believe it is some
sort of achievement to beat a 22 year old car in their saxos and
corsas. Sad.
No doubt when the BMW is roadworthy I'll have the same morons racing me, but with a little extra right foot they may get a bit of a shock. |

Strap a couple of bottles of NOS to the Chevette, that should get a reaction!

I think the real enthusiasts know the score, wheres as the max Power clan maybe just want to see a real fast car being used... Go along to the 'pod on any RWYB/Fast Car ytpe event and youll see 'em thrashing the **** off their crap boxes on the way home trying to keep up with Porkers etc If its any consolation, a had a Nova, 3 up, trying to "race" me thru part of Milton Keynes...I was riding the Hayabusa at the time.... I feel for ya brother....

Yep - same experience, with similar muppets, couldn't be bothered
with them. Thing that bugs me most is the stupid dump valves on
the Toyata Glanzas brigade. Rev shift big whossh and nothing happening!!

I get it regularly, but the action that remedies it is simple (and works very well if like you there is a guy in a car with his girlfriend). Laugh at them. Just laugh. They curl up like little hedgehogs and ride off into the sunset suitably humiliated.... |

Used to suffer a fair bit in my E34 535i Sport The Chavs/Nova/Saxo brigade thought it was an old man in his old mans 5 series until I left them standing at the lights. Sometimes they would look across and think I'd borrowed it from my Dad or something (I was 23 at the time). The Nova boyz were funniest, I had one overtake me on the old Dartford 1-way system (Now two way), he had a sign in the back window that read "YOU'VE JUST BEEN NOVA-TAKEN". Him and his silly mates thought is was hileariously funny until he under-steered straight on at the Kwik-Fit turning. |

The chav-racer really doesn't stand much hope against a BM, you can leave them floundering in hot hatch wheelspin every time. My vulnerable E30 318iS could dust down most Kev-cars, though I have to say the M3 really hasn't attraced much attention. |

Yep, the Nova boys are far the worst of the "offenders" , it seems they all aspire to some form of Corsa after the Nova has completely failed the MOT on structual repairs... I just dont understand the whole "vauxhall thing"..chevettes excepted Doive........

Disagree on the Novas, especially round MK...its either the 318s with bodykits, or people carriers, Audi TTs or Scoobys. Having said that its got to be considered about how fast someone else is prepared to go.......I had a mega-modded Scoob up my rear end on A5 other week, pulled away slowly but then he shot up the otuside of me when I was trying to pull out to overtake a Corsa...he got past and was doing well over a ton and I'm not doing that down speed-camera alley. BUT this is one of the reasons I'm selling. |

Being 19 when I got my first M3, I had loads of it! I still do from time to time. Culprits include:
Nasty Lexus' (trying to prove that plastic weighs less than leather) Civic Type R(ice), Seat's, Audi's, E36's (esp Compacts!). Plus the usual "Fast and Furious" style nasty chav-wagons!!! It gets boring now, I had a loser in an Audi A3, new 2.0TDi trying to "race" me on a motorway. I just thought, your car is not worth my license! I have *touch wood* 5yrs NCB this year - mostly driving an E30 M3, why would I want to jeopardies it for a nasty Audi?? James |

I know it’s not worth it but it can be difficult to resist especially when your car’s saying to you “can you kick it” I think I can… |

reminds me of the time i got overtaken by a 1.2 corsa (had to be ) filled up with wee chavs.... half a body came out of the passenger window, digital camera in hand, and took a photo, it made me smile maybe it's a prized possession on someones wall, like hunters mount deers heads on plaques |
