Thanks, needed an airfreshener - made up for the smell of blocked drains and the local drop outs spilling their guts after a night on the meths..

Rhys, you paint such a lovely picture of the place....

Thanks Goldryder, looks like I might have to get an oversized roof-rack to bring all that booze!!

Fantastic! I fell about reading that, especially like the translations.

I've been working on the accent after watching re-runs of Alan Partridge and that Geordie mate of his who ran the service station.

Friad I've not got much of an Irish accent meself, as my father is from dahn sarf in Kent and my mother spent a good bit of time there too.

Its a good job I can translate that and know what you actually said then.

Being involved in coach holidays for many years I got to know alot of the regional dialects and was often able to translate from one group of southerners to a group of northerners and vikki verki

So how the dickens did you end up getting to Ireland from 'dahn sarf' in Kent, Owen?

I thought I had emigrated a fair way...Isle of Wight to York...nowhere near as far as Kent to Ireland though.

Mum is Irish but went to work in the UK - met and  "dragged" Dad back over here, they got married, had me.. rest is history

What made you "emigrate" up north?
