Kevin. I'm guessing this is the site you have already seen ? www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de

At 25 Euro per night for a cheap single hotel room within the Ring , you've got to love camping to want to go that route

I've used this place before and apart from it not being in Nurburg village, it's otherwise very nice , cheap and the owners are very helpful and speak very good English. http://www.pension-muehlenhardt.de/

Kevin,

Good news. Glad you are able to make it. You won`t believe seeing 130+ E30 M3`s all gathered togather at one point. Every available option and modification, wheels, colour, some track toys, and best of all - Top company, irrespective of what language you speak.

Take lots of film or memory sticks as you will need it.

Regards,

Dave.

Yep, looks like I am going, will be in convoy, probably about 4 of us all bringing our own cars (all e30 M3s). Thought about hotels but after talking to friend decided to go for the camping option instead.

Did send some emails to hotels initially but similar problem as 215m3 so camping it is. Saying that not much info (unless you speak german) regarding campsites there, only one mentioned is Mullenbach?
Not sure if you have to pre-book or you can just turn up - any info would be helpful.

Getting ferry booked through this website of all places, Dover - Calais return £69

215m3 - hope you get your accommodation sorted soon and hope to meet up with you all.

I sent 2 emails to the Zur-Burg Hotel for this weekend and have not had a reply back to either. Is anyone else having difficulties in booking?

Well you got to start somewhere

Will definately know within the next 2-3 weeks, looks like I will need to do those jobs I promised around the house to earn those brownie points afterall.

Will check out the ferry and hotels already mentioned on this thread but I guess I need to be sort of quick about it.

Just checked some ticket prices for ferries, check out www.scferrybookings.co.uk/hoverspeed/direct

23/6/05 10am outbound - 28/6/05 12.45pm return on Seacat with return saver for 1 or 2 adults was quoted at £115.64 - seemed reasonable. Now just need to check out the hotels, or bring along some camping gear.

the Ring is a great experience and the whole atmosphere makes it a well worth trip. You won't be disappointed I can promise you this. Are you coming along to the S14 meet?

Mmmm, I think I'm starting to get the picture.

Might buy a volvo then and try that first.

On a more serious note, I appretiate your words of caution and emphasis that the ring should NOT be treated as some sort of track day outing, and when the time comes take it easy I will - HONEST

Also as stated its also about enjoying the occasion with like minded people.

Besides trying to prove something to veterans and then crashing your car in the process is not what I call very clever, believe you me.

You can believe me/us. The RING is like nothing you have seen before. You will see. There is not much room for errors, and if things go wrong they go wrong with 120mph+ and trees all around you.
Take it easy, I do as well!

I thought you'd try and change your plans and go Uwe . Nice work

RattusM3. Just going to the Ring in your car is more than a lot of people would do with their cars . Just remember the Ring is a public toll road and not NOT a race track . Drive like you would on the road and there won't be a problem.

Uwe,

Great news to know you managed to broker a deal, and are going.

RattusM3,

Take your time at the ring, enjoy the company, and lap when you want to at your pace. There is nothing to prove to anyone as we all started somewhere and give the Ring the utmost respect. No a La clarkson laps on the first lap.

Come along, you know you want to.

DAWIE, all sorted now!
But I like the the thing with the memory loss

RattusM3, who says you need to go like a lunatic when driving on track? Take it easy, especially on the Ring!!! I am sure you can have plenty of passenger laps to make your mind up to drive yourslef or not.
The Ring is nothing like you have seen before I can assure you this!
And nobody here will call you coward when taking your time on the Ring.

This sounds like great fun and would be very tempted to come but I am a track day virgin and not sure if it would be prudent to do some track days in good old blighty first before venturing onto the ring. May try and get a friend on board who also has an E30 M3 and track experience.

Also, may have the same problems convincing my nearest and dearest, maybe DAWIEM3 can organise some sort of great-escape committee, he seems to be willing. I thought about a life-size cut out of myself with playback messages that say "yes dear" every 10 minutes - that might just work.

If you checked out my cam posting you will know I will be getting these checked and the whole car given a complete check over as well, but I presume certain spares whould be essential to take with you on such an adventure.

If things work out it would be great to meet you guys.

Please be frank about track day experience as I would value your comments very much.

Kevin
