Topic: Speeding ticket HELP!!! Posted: 04-March-2003 at 15:07 |
Guys, I know this isn't a technical subject but I've just got my first speeding ticket. I was caught doing 88 MPH on the M6. Has anyone got any tips or info on making it easier to bear. I know I'll have to plead guilty because the prosecution notice says it is supported by photographic evidence. Has anyone been in this situation, any advice appreciated.

3pts + fine. Grin and bear it.
You could try asking to see the photograph as there have been cases where the picture has either been inconclusive or of another vehicle.

It is always worth asking for the piccy, the south wales b*****ds gave me 3 points for 35 in a 30.I have a good laser detector now, had it since I was nicked, its a good one, but gradually getting more and more useless as plod switches to inductivally sensed (truvelo) camera's, and real time camera's, as both of these types dont emit anything....you cant detect it.
The real problem now isnt plod, I wasnt actually nicked by them, its the civvy b*****ds in the vans, the ticket you get through has the name of the force concerned, but its just money raising jobsworths that are largely to blame.
There are some good websites that show damaged camera's, always good to cheer you up.
You could also move to the west mercia area where I live.........we dont have any camera's....hurrah
But be careful if you drive down this way, all the neigbouring forces do !!
Also worth noting that the crime rate is so low in north wales, and they have so much money to waste, they fly helicopter speed traps !!
Wonder how much tax payers money that wastes !!!

I got done for 94 mph on the M4 back in November going to the Network Q rally, and I got 3 points and a £60 fine. Very much doubt you'll get any worse.
(I saw the camera with a fair bit of space and let off the throttle to slow down. However it would have been more effective in slowing down if I had disengaged the cruise control at the same time.

I was stopped for 99.28 as I was crossing the border from Scotland to England. Scotland is full of cameras.
3 points and £40, I though I was lucky. I was in a company vectra, I didn't know they went that fast.

when you get the froms through from plod, you are required to fill in the drivers details, otherwise you face a fine of up to £2500.
These details are usually your own
By law you cant be made to sign a form, even by plod himself
If you fill in the details so you are not commiting an offence, but dont sign it, they have no choice but to find you not guilty !!!
I'm sure they will change the law soon, but its nice to see the speed camera b*****ds get one in the eye, only wish I'd known when I was done
