I've been told that I can put a fuel / trip computer in my car. It seems all I have to do is remove the clock and replace it with the computer. While browsing around Ebay I have noticed a few up for grabs.

All the computers that are there ar from 525's upwards, will they fit, work on my 1992 520i or do I need one from the same model as mine.

You would need an OBC from a 518 or 520 as these use a different coding plug to the other models. See http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/upgrade/OBC.htm - Here for more information.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

If you definitely want to do this you could try http://www.fabdirect.com - www.fabdirect.com  I think its about £45  for the computer.

I'll look around the local scrap yards first but I have a feeling they will be about as rare as a hens tooth.
