Hi all I've just inherited a 318i 'F' off my brother, I use the term inherited loosely as he dosn't know this yet (I think he may want something called money? ) Anyway I have found a few problems with the little beauty and wondered if anyone could throw any light on them.

1)Passenger side mirror dosn't work

2)Green/Red LED's near handbrake light what are these for ( two come on when I start up then go out when engine running)

3)Drivers seat a bit worn and I was wondering if its easy enough to just swop the two front ones around (thought I'd ask before I start undoing bolts and loosing them)

4)Whats a cheap way to get a bit more poke from the little beauty, she's already got a kick but want a little more

Any answers would be gratley appreciated PS Don't tell our kid!!!!

1) Dead easy to follow the wires and look for a loose one.  Dead easy to replace the switch.  Dead easy to replace the mirror....getting a colour match at the scrapyard is the hard bit.

2) LeD's are the "Service Indicator" lights.  The less on, the nearere you are to a service/ oil service.  They work on number of starts/miles/type of driving.  You will learn how to reset these manually, shortly.

3) Nope.  The adjustment mechanisms are all on tuther side.

4) New Dizzy cap and arm, leads and plugs.  Always, yes always cheers up an old banger.

Thanks Paul

1)I'll have a go at following the wires for the mirror see if any are loose or terminals are just a bit crappy.

2)With the LED's I take it that its preferable to do the service before the red one comes on (so with my style of driving it won't be long )

3)Don't suppose you know anyone with a realy cheap drivers seat that'll fit and

4)I could always service her sooner and put the new bits in, probably get a Krypton tune aswell just to make sure its spot one

Ta Chally

My E30 passenger door mirror was misbehaving and it turned out to be the connector just inside the door. If you take off the tweeter or cover right by the mirror you should see the wires. Make sure the connector is pushed down fully. Mine wasn't so I lost the heating and the up/down movement. Side to side was ok. Cheap easy fix. Hope yours is the same.
