As some of you will already know, the IAM ( institue of advanced motorists ) will be at Rockingham.

They are there as guests of the BMWCC and will be giving free assesment drives to interested members.

To try to help us gauge interest in this, would people who are interested in having an assesment drive please respond to this post.

I cant promise everyone will get a drive, but your responses will help us to guess how many observers to ask the IAM to provide.

An assesment drive will take 20 - 30 mins, with a short debrief afterwards.

It will be carried out in your own vehicle, and doesnt oblige you to join the IAM, it is just an assesment.

I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the IAM, but please start a new thread for those.

I'm definitely up for this, assuming I can make it along to Rockingham. When do you need to know numbers by? Hopefully I'll be able to confirm by the end of next week.

I'll have to get reading my Roadcraft book

You dont actually need to confirm Alex, i was just looking for an idea of numbers.

I'm getting a better response from lizzies lot (e30 zone) than our own !

323coupe

You can have a free assesment drive with your local group, at a mutually agreable time, let me have your address, privately of course, either by pm, or e-mail mailto:nigel.woolard@tesco.net - nigel.woolard@tesco.net , and I will put you in touch with your local people.

It was offered at Rockingham as an extra attraction, it didnt attract too much interest, only 10 people, but John and I will plod on and see if we can get some more.

It made me feel very humble and i have decided i want to build a 635 race/track car as i don't want to take my pride and joy on the track. Better to have a car to go around with that you don't care about if you know what i mean.

Sohlman, it will be good to see you on track.

I "retired" the M5 from track duty and now use the M3 but that doesn't mean I don't care about it. I will still take care but enjoy myself and hopefully improve my driving skills. I would guess that over 90% of the people on track do care for their cars but also enjoy them to the full.

Cheers
