I think my lock has got some road salt in it, and i have librally put lots of wd40 in it to try and loosen it up, but it still persists to stick when you push it in. I was wondering if any of you know how easy it is to take the lock out as i want to give it a good clean, but as a bit of a mechanical idiot i don't wish to damage my car, or get it wrong. The problem i seem to be encountering is removing the interior carpet in order to get to the lock mechanism. Any ideas any one as it's driving me mad having to open to tool kit to get a screw driver out to shove in the lock to release it. Is it the key slot itself, or the push button which is sticking? -------------

It's the push button mate. Have not been able to open my boot for two days. I am going to check tomorow if i can get a key in and wigle around the lock and see if i can open it this way. I was reading a thread with somone with a similar problem with a 5 series the reply was to use an 1/2 extension bar place on the lock and give a good blow with the hammer, and the boot should pop open! May not be the answer you're looking for but worth a try if you become desperate!

Did the job with a light tap. No damage to the lock or mechanism, but i fell there is something not quite right. I think the rubber seal around the lock has gone alowing water in and thus a little bit of corrosion. I may end up having to go to the stealer to get a new lock made up to my key.
