520. 2002 model

Heater not coming on for a while after I start the car.     I thought these either went completely or not at all.  Its not even taking time to warm up, its full out cold and then "sometime" later, maybe 20-30 minutes,  it switches from full cold to full heat.

any ideas?

Or it could be a lazy thermostat.  Sticks fully open so the heater doesn't get hot then regains some of it's control and starts working once the engine gets warmed up, which will take much longer with a dodgy thermostat.

If it is a lazy stat then you will notice the engine temp gauge will be on the cold side of normal.  If the engine temp gauge is o.k. then it could be a fault with the electronic side of things as mentioned above.
