hi all,my wee car is giving me lodsa grief, at yet another garage,im told 3 camshaft sensors are goosed,garage says best to replace all,am clueless

You need to give us a bit more information like what engine is in it.

I don't think that there are as many as three camshaft sensors in any engine that would be in a Compact.

If the engine is running roughly (a symptom of which is a knackered camshaft sensor) the best thing to do is take it to a sutibale garage that can read the engine diagnostics on the engine.  This identifies any faults that the engine management system has recorded which then leads to a more accurate fault finding process.

A compact will have a maximum of 2 camshaft sensors, one for each cam.

They are quite a common failure and fairly easy to replace.

Get someone to read the fault codes, a BMW speciallist or dealer and come back and tell us what they are. Then we can advise further.

my car is a 316 ti sport,at the moment i,m awaiting fone call from the garage,when the mechanic put the car on the diagnostics,it showed up camshaft faults(had been told by a garage 3wks ago it was the timing chain) losing the will to live, will have more info later thanx for replys
