Hi all,

Due to the glorious weather we are experiencing I have just bought a set of snow socks for my Z4 coupe. One of my work collegues used them on his 5 series while working in Norway and raves about them.

Cheaper than buying winter tyres, but has anyone had any experiences with these, good or bad??

I know they are not to be used on tarmac but they should be good for when, not if, I get stuck.

I'll let you know how i get on with them, looks like they will be getting used tomorrow morning.

The ones I got are fix&gotex, would have preferred the autosock but they would need to be delivered (no chance)!!

The joys of an BMW in the winter!!! :)

Merry xmas everyone,

Craig

I did wonder about them but the deal breaker for me was the fact that you can't use them on tarmac.

The problem is that our roads are very rarely completly covered in snow so you would be forever taking them on and off, same applies to the types of snow chains etc.  We don't get enough snow to cover all the roads where I want to be going.  Driving in Norway would be a different matter.

I have managed without snow tyres, my just taking it easy, using a combination of traction control on and off and pulling off in 2nd or 3rd gear.  Just don't go anywhere your ability as a driver and the cars ability.

BMW doesn't need to stand for Badly Made (for) Winter.

Not so sure about that.

I have managed so far in my 330i but it's not been easy and my Wife's Mazda 6 is 100X better in the snow.
