The OBC in my E34 540 keeps bonging at me saying "ESD Regelt", Brake LT circuit failure", "see owners handbook". The only thing is that the brake lights are fine and the handbook doesn't mention anything about this. It's getting really annoying.

It started off being a rare thing but it happens nearly every journey.

Anyone got any ideas?

even if the bulbs work remove and inspect them. put the bulbs against a piece of white paper and see if they are discoloured. if they are replace them. if not i would go for a brakelight switch next.

"ESD Regelt" is something to do with an electronic lock on the differential. If you do not have an electronically controlled differential i think you may have a problem with your Check Control Module.

try and get hold of another LKM, mine died and i kept getting bulb failure messages, and sometimes scarier go to dealer type messages..
17 quid from the local scrappie (180 BMW) and its fixed.
if you can borrow one from somewhere to make sure first it might be a good idea.

Thanks for the replies. Is there a way of knowing if I have electronic diff control or do all cars with ASC have it?

The strange thing though is that the "ESD Regelt" comes on at the same time as the "brake LT circuit faliure" so I assumed they were related.
