Maybe a duff replacement inverter?

I had the same problem with mine.

For all the cost, worth a try.

Check the inverter for power going in, & coming out.

Hope you get it sorted

Just put the side light bulb back in and connect the holder up that will be hiding inside somewhere surely? then it will get thru the MOT

try the non-working inverter on the working side first, and vice versa to try and isolate whether it's the inverter or the rings that are dodgy

Can't remember if I left the bulbs & holders in there but I cut the cabling for them (left plenty slack for reconnecting on occasions like this) & used it to power the CCFLs.

It could be possible to reconnect the sidelights for the MOT.

Good idea too but I doubt that two rings would fail at exactly the same time, my money is still on the inverter, or a bad connection.

Scotty,  firstly, the fuses are under the bonnet yes, when you remove the fuse box lid you will see a diagarm on the underside, with a description of the fuses & their location in the fuse box. A blown fuse will usually be easily seen, you will see the broken wire or you can check it with a meter also, just to be sure. I've had a blown fuse before which appeared ok but was proved with the meter.

That said, I can't tell from memory if each sidelight has it's own fuse.

Next check the vehicle power to the inverter, using a meter.

The inverter should have two coloured wires coming from one end, blue & brown, or red & black, connect these to the vehicle power supply, the vehicle live is grey & not brown! The vehicle brown is the earth.

Finally, the inverter should have two pairs of wires coming out of the other end (usually white), check each pair for power, doesn't matter which end goes to the meter as long as you check them in pairs.

Likewise, it's imperative that they are connected to each ring in their own pairs, do not mix them up or the rings will not light up.
