help please m3 2002 that will not start it is in neutralual showing a 0 on dash display which flashes when key removed smg gear box thank you. ------------- mini31c |

It will not find a gear if the bonnet is open. One thing to try is open then slam the bonnet. Just incase it wee sensor thinks it is open. May also be the pump, is it under warranty? When you unlock the car do you hear a slight whine of the SMG pump? Daz

daz thanks but car dose not start have checked if bonnet is open and checked pins and catches but will not turn over just nothing but gear indicater flashing thank you.

Damn it! Very possibly the SMG pump then, out of waranty think it is £1200. There was some good topics on MTorque, but of course it has been shut down now. Hi, not wanting to maybe state the obvious but you are pressing the brake pedal while trying to start?  Is the pump kicking in when you open the drivers door? Is the lever moving freely from reverse to drive?I've got the bm notes on this SMG box.
