Guys, I haven't decided completely yet but I am thinking of part exing the Sport Evo against an E46 CSL, if I can find the right one for the right money. My question is what my car is worth! Car is black with cloth interior. No real mods to speak of except proper HID dip beam lights. The car has done 253,000kms now and has been my daily driver for last 6 years. Paint is very good and I had the scuttle and rear number plate area done just after I bought it. One or two bubbly bits are appearing round the door bottoms, both on the doors and in the apertures. Similar where central locking pin for the fule flap is located. Interior is by no means pristine, but not bad either. The motor had an E36 tensioner fitted just after I got it but otherwise no major work since I have had it and none in the wad of bills that I bought with the car. Engine still runs very well though it is not the fastest SE out there. The diff is beginning to whine a bit too. I have the usual stack of bills for all the usual things as time has passed, but the biggest was a clutch at around 190,000kms. Needless to say it has been serviced by specialists bang on the orange lights every time. Before I bought it the car was stolen/recovered and then during my ownership has had major accident damage repaired (recorded on the V5). However, it is straight and true and the accident was over 4 years ago and repaired properly by a main dealer (little expense was spared since it was not my fault!). These are the two bits that make it a whole lot more difficult for me to value. If I go and see a car I like I want to have a clear idea of what mine is worth, so what do you reckon? Or you could spend the £15 in the pub and ask some random drunk when you're in, you'd get just as useful a valuation. Regardless of that I wouldn't think you would get best price by putting it in as a part ex as it is a very specialist car so you would probably be better off selling privately. You will then be in a much stronger position to push the price of the CSL down a bit. I think you may be right...tis a hard car to value: Positives: It's a Sport Evo Paint is OK Has service history Has had the hard bits to do, rust wise, already done. Negatives: Some rust. Noisy diff Tired (ish) motor Stolen recovered Cat C recorded Mileage Decent unmolested Sport Evos seem to be going for around £20-25K with mint ones a bit more... With the mechanical/cosmetic issues and without knowing any more about your car I'd have said start at £20K and be prepared to take an offer. However, it is Cat C and has fairly big mileage...That must reduce its' value by at least 25%, IMHO... With all that in mind, I'd reckon that you would be lucky to get over £15k from a UK buyer... I had my Sport Evo valued by Richard and was really pleased with the result. With regards to yours, I think it is a hard one given the history of the car. Richard is worth a call, I echo others thoughts, he keeps a close watch on the prices.
Yes prices are up partly due to the week pound and many Sports are going back to Germany. You should definitely advertise it in the Euro zone in Euros, try it on www.mobile.de You have to go the extra mile if you want the best price. The easy option is a trade in but you'll get mugged doing it. The Sport Evo has gone! I sold the car in the summer to a Board member. I probably shouldn't say any more as that is his business now as much as mine. Suffice to say the car has gone into good hands and will not be residing in the UK. I'm happy with what I got and I think it was a fair price given that exporting effectively cleans the cars record in any case. I now have the pleasure of an '04 plate CSL.
