nice looking wheels - I need a set of E39 rims myself but I think I'll stick with 17"

I could be with a set of winter rims, but they are way out of my price range. Very nice though, good luck with sale.

Thanks guys...  I must say I personally have never seen a set of rims in such good shape, literally not a scratch.  If only they were actually mine!

On the price thing, I'm not sure if that is even a realistic price as I couldn't find anything similar to compare them to.  If I am way off the mark I would appreciate suggestions...

Thanks.

TBH, for €500 I would also expect a full set of matching top quality tyres with minimum 50% tread.....

Realistically, anyone buying those alloys will need to replace all 4 tyres. Are they off an E46 ?

As others have said, the price is on the high side.  PCH in Ascot in the UK have a set of brand new (genuine) BMW style 42's for £199.  Because of the mix of tyres most buyers would probably ditch them and replace so the price should be closer to what wheels only should make.

The style 42's were fitted to some very late e36's (e.g. 318iS 4 door) and e46.

Fair points lads...  I do agree that the random set of tyres is strange, not the sort of thing you would expect if someone was really into their car.  At least they managed not to damage them on the kerbs!

I'll certainly revise the price downwards based on what ye said.

Ballcock you would be happy to know that they were on an E34 518i...  Keeping it old school as you say!

Thanks again lads...

Keep an eye on the advert for price changes...

***Pedantic Anorak On***

What you have for sale there is a set of Style 82 alloys - originally off an E39 I suspect so will have required hub centric spacers to fit on an E34.

Style 42's are these below

The ones on the E46 in the pic on the supplied link are different again.....

***Pedantic Anorak Off***

" extra pedantic anorak on"  the ones in your picture are the type 42 compomotive wheel , the ones being sold are the standard type 42 as fitted to my E36 318is saloon." extra pedantic anorak off"

The ones on your E36 and the ones being sold are in fact different wheels (the pic of the E46 in the OP's link is misleading).......

You guys are hilarious.  The picture in the link is actually straight from the BMW website if that clarifies anything?

If you check http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=36116751762&showus=on&showeur=on&series=E39 - this link and then click on a model it will bring up a drawing of the alloy...  Also http://bmwfans.info/original/E46/Lim/320i-M52/ECE/R/N/2000/04/mg-36/ill-36_0337/ - this link has the same wheel...

The text (from the BMW website) that accompanied the BMW photo calls them Cross Spoke 42's, link is http://accessories.bmw.com/internet_bmw/servlet/navigateDetails.do?language=en&nscId=1001&localePath=/COM/en&ts=1222431668604&from=2&fromList=true&nav=1 - here ...

I dunno if this helps or not.  The padantic stuff is good to know nevertheless, information is a powerful tool, so cheers for putting on the anoraks...

Again to clarify as the alloys that you have for sale (pictured below)are originally from an E39 5 series and are Style 82's.

Style 42's are these ones below and are original fitment on E46's.

The only reason I am being picky here is that the E46 & E39 have different wheel fitments (AFAIK) and a potential buyer would need to be sure.....

Ballcock is right, the OP's realoem link is to style 82 alloys from the e39 5 series, the image shows a style 42 alloy fitted only to 3 series.  He is also right that the e46 and e39 wheels are not directly interchangeable.

To add a little to "anorak's corner", the style 42 alloys did come in 2 flavours.  The basic style 42 is the one fitted to Steven Seeds 318iS above and comes in 16" size.  The others are the style 42 composite's (split rims) and come in a 17" size only afaik.
