Just thought I'd post a glowing (forgive the pun) review of Turtle Wax Ice. Fifteen minutes of mild effort results in a really deep shine on everything except the windows. At €20.00 for a kit it isn't cheap but there's probably 20 coats in a bottle. Only down side is that you have to make sure to remove any watermarks on the paint first as they just show through the finish. Otherwise excellent product.  |

ivanovoitch, its hard to beat a black car thats been waxed!! Looks the biz!!! I was also surprised how easy and quick it was to wax a car with it too!! But the down side is that it doesn't have the life time of normal wax. Did my car recently with it, the following day it started raining (as it does in the west!!) and it pretty much washed it off

That's the problem with stuff like this. It just doesn't last. I've been impressed with Turtle was stuff in the past but it is nothing compared to Autoglym which is not quite as good compared to the Meguiars range. Have to say. A week on and with some serious rain on Wednesday it's still a shiny old Jap mobile. It helps that the rubbers and wheels have kept their sheen.

I tried Auto Glyms new wax. You spray it on and can use it even if the car is wet. Reasonably decent shine, but again the effect is not long lasting. I am going to order Colinite car wax. It is supposed to last well and is the old fashioned elbow grease variety. Polishes I found good in the past were Rain Dance (lasted well) and Mer (easy to put on and get off) When I rub my hand on the paintwork of my car it feels rough - why is this? It's steel blue metallic. Does it need to be cut? Also, my chrome work won't polish up to a gleam. |

I'd guess that the old wax has marbled. You should probably be able to remove it with a bit of very wet t-cut followed by a good wash with warm water. Chrome is impossible to restore when it's old. It needs dipping and re-coating. What are you driving? ------------- |

Use clay bar on the car and it will remove the roughness of the finish, Meguiars do a kit which you can get in Halfords or any Motor Factors which stocks the Meguiars range. ------------- Now 2004 M3 Coupe Silver Grey with all the bits |

Used that turtle wax ice on our black Volvo and the results were pretty surprising as well - no mess on the plastic trim either. Lasted a couple of weeks, happy out - especially as I paid $12 for it in Wal-Mart !!! ------------- E39 530d Touring |

Thanks guys for the advice. I was thinking I might leave it to be valeted and get them to 'cut' the paintwork - if that's the right term! I have an 8 year old steel blue 320i. Chrome isnt bad, just cant get that 'new' shine look! LOL! |

I'm at a loss to what chrome bits you'd find on a 2000 e46. What bits are they? Are they after market parts? ------------- |

| Ivan, the six cylinder models have chrome around the door frames and on the sills! It sets them apart, along with twin exhaust pipes, from the 4 cylinder models!! |

This has probably been said before, but you know why Turtle Wax is so expensive, don't you? Well, turtles have really small ears. Seriously, I always use Autoglym. Shampoo conditioner every wash, Super Resin Polish two or three times a year, and that special hard coat (can't quite remember the name at the moment) on top when I'm feeling enthusiastic enough.
