Hi All

Just a quick question...

I know that brake fluid is Hydroscopic and that EVERYONE says you must always use a new sealed container...
I bought a 5 litre container not so long ago to do the brakes on my 5, but I only used about 2 litres. Based on the fact that the bottle has a sealable cap and that it was only open to the atmosphere for about 40 seconds before being re-sealed...would it still be ok?
I assume that these warnings are to protect people who do not seal the container after they use it?

Thanks
BB

I don't think you will have a problem if the container was sealed airtight. After all, the reservoir has a head space that contains air and this air contains water that the fluid is absorbing.

Hmm

I dunno.

Why did you buy such a big amount?

1 litre of BMW brake fluid did my E39 and it was the cheapest stuff that I could buy.

Make sure you do not use DOT 5 as this will not be compatable with DOT 4 fluid which you will have in the brake system of your 5.
