OK, this is obviously an emotive subject, but I am only able to give you five choices, so I have deliberately offered five different nationalities across the spread of the the F1 championship since 1951

Yes ok, four were world champions, but LH should have been if McLaren hadn't -up in 2007.

Please post your own suggestions - even though that won't make the slightest difference to my poll

although I may use it later as the basis for a new one

7 times world champ has to have an advantage in this poll, even though he is arrogant

Date Posted: 20-March-2008 at 20:26

It has to be Senna

schumacher was good but no personality

and hamiltons baws havent even dropped 1 season and some wins does not make you a great driver

I agree with Ian. I still have that fateful race in my head, probably one of the greatest, if not THE greatest all round F1 driver in the world. That was a black weekend in F1. It was bad enough losing Ratzenburger the day before but to lose two in one weekend......

Scuey will go down in history and I have total respect of him as a driver but he has no personality. The Senna & Prost battles were 10 times better than Hill and Schumacher but Senna wasn't arrogant with it he just made it look easy and never admitted it!

Oooh.. thats a tough one.

can we remove the teams from this equation.. put them all in identical cars with the same setup and tyres, ban pitstops and refuelling and then see who wins.

It would be a two horse race and Senna would draw with Schumaker.

Had to put Senna I suppose as I can't stand the other twonk.
What about the boring one, the one that's so boring I've forgotten his name - you know - him that had the tache, the one that puts you to sleep when he starts talking.. Thought he was supposed to be pretty good?

He had some good battles too and was good with his strategy but not quite a Senna or Shuey I'm afraid.

Here I am - why?

Lock my own poll? You're having a laff

Plenty of time for others to vote for someone other than Senna or shoemaker

True indeed, but to put 'the boy' into the list was at best misguided. He had a cracking rookie year but he's gotta get a lot more track time before he can even think of claiming the crown.

I guess you need to put more detail to your question.... in outright wins then the humourless one gets it hands down with his technical brilliance and near jedi prowess, for shear out and out pleasure of watching someone at the top of his game enjoying what he does then it's Senna everytime for me.

I'm hoping Hamilton can do the same... (except the nasty bit at he end of course!)

Would have been a more accurate poll if, it were based on the drivers' achievements and not their personality TBH...seems to be missing the point here but, there again, it's in 'the off topic' section

Another addition could be James Hunt <cough> <cough>

Watch out, Rob's getting eggy! yes, come on chaps, it's a drivers poll, not a personality test. Infact Mr Pits, your thread has been made a shambles of, I think it needs locking!
