Does anyone know if the internals on the 120d are the same as the 123d?

Can I ask why you want to know?

Are you looking at changing an entire engine over or just a few components?

No I’m wondering can the 120d be remapped to put out the same 200BHp as the 123d with no long-term effects.

your best bet would be to check and cross reference on RealOEM - I checked the F20 engines and confirmed the 116d and 118d are exactly the same (only difference is the maps they run)

Old post but, the 123d is a twin turbo engine and the 120d is a single turbo engine.  No amount of mapping on a 120d will get it to work like a twin turbo'd engine.  You might be able to tinker with a 120d engine to give you the same bhp as the 123d but it won't be quite the same in terms of power delivery due to the single turbo.
