Hi guys, cleaning underneath today and noticed that there is oil around the diff. This would indicate that perhaps it's leaking. Anyone any idea what oil it should be topped up with and to what level?

Stolen from the web and quite accurate:

There are two types of oil, depending on if you have a standard 'open'
diff or a Limited Slip diff (LSD).

Oils for standard (open) diffs:
    BMW Synthetic OSP
    Castrol SAF-XO

Oils for Limited Slip diffs:
    BMW Synthetic MSP
    Castrol SAF-XLS
    [unknown brand] VS-700

( Note:  There is a GM additive "Goodwrench Limited Slip Differential Additive "
#1052358, that is popular with some BMW Dealerships. It's cheap and
can fix some LSD noises when combined with standard gear oil.    Ed. )
