Evenin all,

Been after an E39 540 sport with a manual gearbox for ages & have finally found one. Done some research into the car & am concerned about a few things. It isn't known to BMW GB, I have varified all the service history with a main dealer but they cannot confirm its a sport as it doesn't show up on their system, likewise with BMW GB. Basically it looks like being an import. The wheels are different than usual Sports & it has Sat Nav but no TV option? Thought they were one & the same? Car is on an 02 Plate & although out of the two year warranty an import gets would the paint/rust guarantee be valid & if so how long is it? Has anyone encountered any problems with buying import cars? Its a right hand drive & appears to be the same spec as a normal sport but can't get a spec print as its not on the system.

Appreciate any help/advice with this,

Cheers

Dean.

I would be very worried about a car that didn't show up on BMW GB's system. Does it say it's an import on the V5?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it but the not knowing would concern me.

You could try contacting the previous owner to get more info.

Is there anywhere else to check apart from BMW GB ? i.e. BMW Munich - Not sure if you can contact them directly - should be ale to ???

I would be very dubious about this one

Try punching the last seven digits of the chassis number, two letters and five numbers into http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do - this web site and see what it tells you the model is.
