hi guys.

i am looking to purchase a 2.5 crank shaft for my m3. but in order to get a quote from my local bmw garage i need a chassis number for a 2.5 evo sport so that the garage can type it in to computer to get the part number.

would be a great help if someone could give me a chassis number. thanks.

Hi,

if you go in here http://www.bmwmregistry.com/index.php - http://www.bmwmregistry.com/index.php   you should be able to find the last 7 digits of a sport evo chassis.

Cheers, Tim.

can't you just get the part no. from realoem and give them that or is it a
case of they won't sell you a 2.5 crank unless you own a 2.5?

Relevant part numbers are:

New, with bearing shells = 11.21.1.316.978 = £1170+VAT

remanufactured, with shells = 11.21.1.316.979 = £570+VAT

Prices are list from UK dealer within the last six weeks.

The reason that the dealer needs a chassis number is that E30 M3 is no longer a selectable model on their ETK but if they enter the valid VIN all the parts "fiches" become accessible!

DO NOT BUY THE NEW ONE!!!
The "remanufactured" is also new. But you need a core to give back. M10 crank will do......

Don't forget to order the pulley nut.

Some parts for mine I had to supply my chassis number even when I gave them all the part numbers I wanted. I was told that BMW need it when ordering, I suspected at the time to make sure they were supplying parts for a Sport Evo and not any other derivitive of the M3.

But looking back it could have been the dealer making sure I had supplied the right part numbers relevant to my car....but then again, I doubt it!
