BMW suggest a long interval between spark plug renewals. On the advice of a friend, I changed mine on my E46 N42 B20 for NGK Laser Platinum (OE) @ 27,000 miles. Result? The drive is transformed - much more lively and responsive. I'm sure mpg will improve too. The advice is to change plugs every 12,000 miles.
