Saturday saw a cloudy start for the stand set up and the 9 cars on display, two of which had travelled from Yorkshire for the day - two E46 B3 Alpinas - thank you Martin. We finally managed to get our cars cleaned while the better halves made bacon sandwiches and tea by the gallon. We had quite a lot of interest in the stand and cars. You were spoilt for choice for entertainment, the highlight being a fly past by a Lancaster flanked by two Hurricanes, a truly awesome site and sound. The Red Arrows then dropped in followed by a display by the White Helmets Motorcycle Display Team. The weather held out until about 4pm when the heavens opened and we thought the BBQ was off but it brightened up just in time and we had a great BBQ and a few beers followed by entertainment provided by a live band.

Day 2

Sunday started with bright sunshine although a bit on the breezy side but the sun shone all day and we ended up with sunburnt noses. We had 10 cars on the stand today turning it into a Z day with a brace of Z3’s and Z4’s, again we had a lot of visitors to the stand. In the main arena were displays by Russ Swift stunt driving as seen in the Mini television adverts who demonstrated how to play football in a car and the amazing sheep dog display with David Seamark, who controlled his 6 dogs with just a whistle or voice command. Once again the magnificent Lancaster and Hurricanes flew overhead. We rounded the day off with a BBQ, a few more beers and another live band.

Day 3

At 2 am we were woken by torrential rain which lasted for about an hour. With dampened spirits we awoke at 6am to  a nice sunny morning which made packing the tents up a little less of a chore. There was again a full days entertainment in the main ring, with the Red devils dropping and another display by the White helmets Motorcycle Dispaly Team, along with parade of heavy horses and The Grim Reaper Monster Truck squashing yet more cars much to the delight of the packed grandstand. The weather held out most of the day with just a couple of cloudbursts.

In all we had an excellent weekend there was so much to see and do, something for every member of the family.

For the children face painting, Children’s go carts and crazy golf and The Imagineering Fair where they could get involved in making models and scientific experiments.

For the dog lovers a whole arena dedicated to canine activities, agility, fly ball and dogs shows and a demonstration of guide dog training.

There was an equine arena featuring show jumping, dressage, etc

Hundreds of stalls selling everything imaginable, garden ornaments/tools, clothing and country clothing, plants, and foods from all over the world, including some very nice traditional cider which for some strange reason seems to go straight to your head !

For all us petrol heads the was a massive display of cars, trucks and military vehicles. A real trip down memory lane seeing some of my past cars.

Everybody that came with their cars thoroughly enjoyed themselves with the majority of them asking if we were attending again next year and saying they would stay for the full 3 days as they didn’t have enough time to see and enjoy everything.

A massive thanks to everyone who came along and supported us. A special thank you to Simon Alcorn from Mallory section (North East region) for his help over the weekend. Also Paul Cuttiford who as a new member came for all three days and ‘manned the shop’ while we had a look around and Grant White for his ‘On-site security’! An even bigger thanks to Simons wife, Tracy, and my wife to be, Sharon for supplying us and everybody who came along with a welcome tea and coffee.

Due to so much interest I  booked next years stand space before we left today, so keep an eye out for further information because next year will be bigger and better.
