What direction do you want this to go?
I plan on adding an adverts forum in the next few days (maybe for members with 10 or more posts).
What else would you like?

I also know the top of the pages are a bit empty. Any design suggestions?

What are the guidelines regarding BMW logos, as I understand and correct me if I'm wrong we can't use a copyrighted picture/image.

How about if I were to take a photo of a BMW flag flying in a field or a photo of the roundel on my car, can we legally use those. Don't want to upset anyone or risk legal action because one of us has posted an image we shouldn't, there has been more than enough threat of legal action as it is.

-------------

Posted By: kbannon
Date Posted: 28-July-2006 at 12:46
I will make contact with the relevant authorities about roundel usage and will let you know. For the moment we cannot use them.

with regards to some new section how about :

detailing (advice etc and new products  - keeps pete at bay )

gallery ( to show case your motor on a nice sunny day )

was it you ( these sections are the best and can post refferance to someone else in a bmw that might be off the forum that you seen in town , or if you were out of town etc.. )

Inverted fan in BMW Roundell, isn't a copyright issue...

Proper fans behind the logo..quite aproppriate really

Bit big at the moment but can be reduced..later

I think that looks rather good, as long as your sure there isn't a copyright issue.

Nigel, not really sure but is there any way of finding out?

I like the design, but I think it may cause problems as it is a variation of the theme - they could possibly argue the font style, the rear roundel .... I like the thinking though

Personally, I think would prefer a banner (600 * 200) to go along the top of the page (as in the previous design) - this will mean we could get more onto a page and will loke better proportioned?

heres my effort .. simple but differs from the orignal rondell ..

obviously the slogan could be changed at the bottom as i know there was an issue using 'THE ULTIMATE'

the overall design you guys decide would be good to be used as a sticker aswell so everyone has the same logo/lettering etc..

so something simple and effective would make a good sticker aswell as forum logo ..

I like the idea of the banner witrh the outlines on it. The appropriate one can be shown on the appropriate tech page and for other pages they could be alternated.
I guess for the Irish/Scottish/anywhere else, they could be customised, unless you want to keep the old logo and use the current board as your regions board, in which case you are welcome to use the logo if you want.

I suppose if they were willing to give permission to use the roundel/name in the future it would be great.

The disadvantage of a banner is that different people use different screen resolutions and an image about 1000pixels wide will not fit neatly on an 800*600 screen

That's easily sorted, I could do that so the banner fits to a maximum of 800x600 (or less if required)

ok guys, I've created banner logos for the website which, can also double up as car stickers (rear quarter windows/ back windows for saloons/touring). There is also the Forum badge (stationary etc...)

The car stickers fonts would be changed to white (for visability) with clear background. Badge would be white background.

* blog (if people want it)
* Im sure there is more but I can't remember and as I siad, Im feeling too lazy to think!

How about a "Just for Laughs" forum, so we can put Jokes, cartoons and silly things, which will leave the other sections purely for discussion?

thepits: I am just back from working away the last two days..catching up on over 100 emails

Well I've now emailed the logos & Banners to Killian for upload to the site.

As for the stickers, they may be done for Gaydon, but I'm not saying which year..

Good, I'll phone you when I am out with the lads for a swally in a couple of weeks and you can remind me where, as by 3am on the sunday, I lose all sense of direction...

Seriously, it's out of me hands now..

I have finished playing around with the system so there is now (after almost 4 years) an Adverts forum.
If you notice any bugs let me know.
Myself and the other moderators will upddate the charter in the next day or so.

I will make the other changes along with the new logo whcih will be done in the next 10 minutes but I have been sitting in my study with my work laptop on beside me for the last few hours and not done a tap on it!
