Just had to nip down to halfords for a new battery as mine has give up. When i removed the negative lead from the battery may alarm goes off and will only stop if i re-attach it and wait 30 seconds.

What should i do?

I have a 2000 compact ti sport

Thanks

Alarm will always sound if it detects a change in the voltage so removing the lead will activate it. Do you not have a key to turn the alarm off first. Your siren box should have an on/off switch operated by a key. This is normally in the engine bay.  Steve.

Should be fun if alarm fitted at factory, They fit siren under battery tray. Can only get to it by removing battery.

I have the same model and year of car - the alarm should only go off if it's armed when you remove the battery. Other than that just put up with the noise while you change it?
