Hi lads,

Just trying to get organised for the International Driver Training later on in the year.

Looks like I'm the only one from the Irish region who is going, and am trying to organise ferries and stuff.

What are folks from the UK doing and would it be possible for a paddy to hook up with you :)

Are people going on the Saturday or Sunday morning?

Ferry timings are tricky for me, which would make it difficult to do in one day....I'm thinking of taking ferry saturday to holyhead, staying a night in london or somehwere and then taking a chunnel on sunday to get there leisurely enough for the registration sunday afternoon.

So just wondering who is going, when and all that sort of thing :)

Oh and also, any tips you vets would have in terms or car preparation or other stuff I will undoubtedly forget would be most appreciated.

Cheers

Mick

Hi,

You will be very welcome,  unsure of what others are doing, but we will be aiming for early Sunday morning ferry. We usually bump into a few familiar faces.

I am sure the veterans will be along with all their helpful tips soon, I am just a passenger, so will leave the technical stuff to the other half when he gets in, word of warning though, dont mention brakes to him if you are in a hurry!

Hi Jac

Looking forward to seeing you and Mark in August - welcome to a fellow Celt - Mick - I'm from north of the Border

There will be Myself and Grant W travelling over on the Saturday morning on the 930am Seafrance but we are stopping the night in Spa at Neil and Annes place - just to break the journey up and jhave a few beers - then up early get to the ring and get a few laps in

i would take a spare set of front brake pads or replace them before you go - the Ring is hard on brakes

i would also take some replacement belts and double check all your hoses - you also need to take all your paperwork for the car, a reflective jacket, warning triangle, spare bulbs and have at least 170euros in your wallet in case you breakdown

happy to take you for passenger laps on the sunday to show you the lines prior to the event

Martin

Hey thanks folks, sorry for not responding earlier but the forum was down and then I had been travelling since.

Looks like this is going to be great fun.   On the prodrive driver development day I wrote about here

http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=31133&PN=1 - http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=31133&a mp;PN=1

I met a couple of chaps who were at the event last year, and it just sounded terrific.

Jac are you in any way related to BV VP??

Martin I will definitely take you up on that offer of some laps!  Are you going to try to get out at Spa also??

Also, why does everyone seem to be taking the ferry?  I would have thought the Eurotunnel was the mode of choice......I had been planning to drive from holyhead to folkstone and do that.  Is there another alternative I should consider?

Cheers

Mick

b7 vp is my father in law.

To be honest, we have always found the ferry to be a much cheaper option than the tunnel, and you do get a nice breakfast!

Martin, will be good to see you too, Mark said that his is a bitburger

Mark has some new seats, need a shoe horn to get me in and out now.... hope he isnt trying to imply anything!

see you all soon   Jac x

Long time no see Spokey,

It has been a busy year!    Fingers crossed for a dry track this year,  so, are you up to four cars now?

Hows the baur?

Hi Jac

bitburger not a jaggermiester?

Mick I use the ferry because I trailer the car - the tunnel is usually very expensive. I am going over in Sept and using the tunnel £100 return so not too bad.
