Hi guys,

My faultless Evo E36 for the last 2 years has bitten back at me!

Unable to engage all gears though am able to select all?

The gear selected flashes on the dashboard display and the bell bings away!

This followed a friend parking the car for me in 'S MODE' instead of 'P MODE' (my mistake)!

It would not let me select reverse even after i turned the ignition on.

I had to start the engine before finally selecting reverse.

When i came to leave i couldnt engage reverse and tried all the other gears to no avail.

I have done this before on the odd occasion and selection following was fine.

Any ideas or remedies ??????

Thanks all

Chas

****** Update ********

Its amazing what an hour of recouperation does to the old beast.

Gear selections restored - phew!!

I will get the full run down from BMW as to how this gearbox should be used and will post it on the forum for other E36 owners, today has been quite a fright!

Happy motoring all

Chas

cant see why parking it in s mode would make a difference ? i used to leave mine in gear while parked all the time . but on realy cold mornings it would not want to select N for a couple of tries but then was ok .
