For those who don't know - you can still get videos of the M3 doing what it was designed to do. Here's the list of the ones I've found to date (all available from Duke Video):

1988 European Touring Car Championship (comes on 2x 1 hr tapes) Good if you like the original Grp A style racing M3.

1988 Spa 24hrs (1hr) A good year for the 2.3 litre Evo spec cars.

1990,91 & 92 DTM (1.5hrs each) Catch the Sport Evo in action. 1990 features Mr M. Schumacher crashing into Johnny Cecottos M3 at the start of the final two races - hence almost not chance of capturing the title. 1991 good action from Steve Soper including the 2 races at Donnington. 1992 - the final year of the works backed M3s.

1992 Nurburgring 24 hrs. Includes extended coverage of both the DTM rounds held at the old north loop as well as coverage of other classes and the 24 hr race itself - pity about some of the boring bits!

BTCC 1991 (1.5 hrs) Final British championship for the M3 with Will Hoy and good in-car footage.

Anybody know of any more I can add to the collection?

John

Which is best is hard one - depends on what you like to see - for action the BTCC tapes are always better than German sourced tapes (they tend to dub on dreadful music instead of letting us hear the engine noise!) and they obviously have a new english commentary. But the German races always featured the big name drivers and the best works teams (Schnitzer & Bigazzi mostly) fielding the fastest, most powerful Sport Evo based cars.

Of these three I prefer the 91 and 92 season tapes (you notice that the presentation gets better every year) but the racing is insteresting in 91 - the last year the M3 was truly competitive - and 92 isn't quite as good but better than the 90. If I had to choose just one year I'd got for DTM and BTCC from 91 - you can also compare how different the cars were between the two championships.

The 91 BTCC is good - my favourite bit being the in-car view of Steve Soper going round Oulton Park (see how fast he can change gear!!) Plus its got the familiar tones of Murray Walker commentating. My other favourite is the ETCC 88 tapes - featuring another Schnitzer/Ravaglia victory - including winning Spa 24hr etc.

As for the 88 & 89 BTCC tapes - any chance of getting a copy done Gary as you can't buy them anymore?
