I have 'sunflower' wheels on my M3(fig1). I think those in fig 2 were on post 95 M3 Evo's. Personally, I prefer the style that you have (either fig 1 or 2), I like the design and they look a bit more individual. Is your bad wheel split or twisted, if not why don't you get your rim refurbished - be as good as new once done! ------------- 1990 E30 M3 Sport Evolution |

Really really curbed it! Maybe a little 'pringled' (found a cheap one on ebay.de) I think the fig 1 wheels only came in 17x7.5 where as the fig 2 wheels came with the optional 8.5 rears... am I right? ------------- Avus E36 M3.0 |

I think it was style and finish at the time .... but I actually like the style now as they are quite rare now as you're finding out! Yes your right about the sizes .... yours are 7.5 in all way round where as the type II's had an optional 8.5 inch rear, just like the M Double spokes pictured in my previous post. I do remember the motoring press saying that the handling was more progressive on the smaller 7.5 inch wheels all round as opposed to the offset 7.5 front and 8.5 inch set up ... ------------- CSL M3 GT ... I think the 8.5 rears encouraged a little understeer in the chassis, which was exacerbated in the Evo through a different steering rack etc.... .... At least I don't have to worry about getting one which doesn't size match the others! Thanks The finish is a lot less polished than the 2nd and 3rd gen ones. ------------- Avus E36 M3.0 |
