Subject: 3.0 CSL manufacture date?

Hello

I've just bought a RHD 3.0 CSL in chamonix white with Batmobile kit, chassis number 2285308, registered in 1973.

Am I right in thinking that this car will have been manufactured in 1972?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Rob

That is a nice car. Should go very well with the set up it has. All rhd csls were built in the last quarter of 72 and so are tax exempt.

Where will you and the car be based?

Regards,

Rohan

Many thanks Rohan. Much appreciated.

I live just off the A1 in Nottinghamshire. I'm very much looking forward to many miles with the car - I've been a long time looking for one ...

Thanks again.

Rob

Rob, good to have another csl owner out in the open! I was thinking of taking my bat to martek for a resto as they looked like they knew the cars well but the guy who had it sold the business recently so I didnt bother.

As for the manufacture of the car, if it is for tax exemption you will need proof of this which can be obtained from BMW.

Regards,

Rohan

I live just off the A1 in Nottinghamshire

Just up the road from me...my csl is quite often parked at City Ground on a Saturday afternoon...come on Forest.

Welcome to the forum. My Csl is tax exempt and reged in `73, dvlc tok some perwading it was made in `72 and in the end would only excpt a letter from BMW to say it was manufactured in `72. Is it the car with the triple carbs ?

regards

marc

Hi Drew and Marc

Tuxford, on the A1 between Retford and Newark.

Marc, sounds like you're close by. We will have to meet up some time soon and talk Coupes. We could talk football, but I'm a West Ham man myself. Saw Forest play a blinder against the Hammers last year, just after Brian Clough passed away.

Yes it's got triple Webers, and a Schrick high lift camshaft, but is still fairly civilised.

Thanks for your advice on the manufacture date. I have written to BMW and we will see what gives.

Regards.

I know Tuxford well. Bought a car there once and
used to live in Church Warsop.

There's a good Car Club meet, first Monday of every
month - next one is November 7th, Winsick Arms,
Clay Cross. It's just off the A617 going towards
Chesterfield from the M1.

Thanks again for your help.

I emailed Customer Service at BMW UK on Friday. BMW in Munich replied today (Monday) with the manufacture date (19 December 1972) and the delivery date to BMW Concessionaires in London. Now that's service.
