Hi all, still working my way round the 735. Other commitments (3 weeks college homework) and weather slowed progress. So far I'm looking for a front bumper and later a pair of rear doors. Not got climate control to work yet - still reading instructions, drivers winddow stuck, motor makes a faint noise when switch pressed but no movement, one foglight not working but could be connection or bulb. Looks like I'll be rewiring speakers again as easier than identifying and tracing originals. She keeps stalling at low revs on lock, (ie in/out of garage) could that be down to handbrake sticking? Can anyone tell me what's meant to be in tool kit, as both 735 and 732 have little in them. I was horrified to find a Mercedes Benz spanner in 735! My neighbour still needs a front wing for 732, we cleaned rear sensor for speedo and checked wiring but that still works when it feels like it - interestingly the mpg bit under rev counter seems to work backwards, fully right on throttle, fully left no throttle. Any help gratefully recieved!

How bad is the front bumper Ian? I've got one in my hoard but its not a lovely one. I have various doors and wings. how bad are your doors? A chap on this forum called Selephant has some doors for sale - cheap I think??? I am the king of E23 climate control issues. I know MORE than any normal human being should want to know about these weird & wonderful systems. engine needs a damn good service, that should sort out the stalling issue. the 732 speedo must have some weird wiring faults - can the owner get an auto electrician to take a look? the complete "extra large" BMW toolkit is a wonder to behold. they contain loads of spanners, two pairs of pliars, various gadgets, bulbs, and a swiss army penknife (possibly).

Wow, buckets loads of help/advice! Philip correct, nearside wing, will ask about fibreglass but personally I prefer metal. Front bumper had hole about 2" diameter under drivers side headlight wiper assy - possible jagged metal MoT failure? Rear doors just showing about 1/4" line of rust bubbles less than halfway across very bottom of door. Service happening as soon as I can get service items, dealer didn't call back and car going nowhere until I get down to Mark for the wheels. I asked about tool kit as many spanners etc on ebay at present but I don't know whats missing. May check local scrappies when it stops raining (about Sunday according to forecast). Looks like I'll be ringing Philip for instructions on auto climate control! Cheers guys |

don't buy service items from BMW! pop along to your local ECP or GSF. they stock everything for the 3.5 motronic M30. treat it to a rotor & dizzy cap - they hate worn ign parts. if your bumper chrome blades have rusted I have some. your doors sound repairable? why waste ££££ on buying doors? with the ign ON and fan thumbwheel turned ON do yuo get any little green lights on the climate control buttons? does the blower fan work? does the defrost button work?

No Led Zep, plently Status Quo, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Who and Deep purple plus some Hendrix etc. Chrome blaeds? Can you just change that bit? Had thought of repairs to doors, not had a detailed look, they don't seem that bad. From memory green lights yes, fan&defrost no |

I never said I don't like LZ, I do, especiallt the live version of Stairway to Heaven, just never bought them as my mates had the whole set. Been outside, green lights on all switches except defrost which was yellow, faint noise from fan but only a whisper no matter what setting control on. Next! |

Ian on the spedo front I sound like a lose connection of broken Wier some were, I would also check the fuse box for corrosion and this can be a problem it has been for me also check all you fuses and check again on both cars that there OK. Philip likes blown fuses . As Philp and all have said running wise it could do with a service, change all the items roter arm, cap, plugs, filters including fuel and give the air flow meter a good clean with carb cleaner, (running at about 2500 rpm doing short blasts so not to stall it. On your breaks that will need a good strip down and check over, If your lucky a good run may solve this. the wiring diagrams come in disk format called ETM. I have a complete set of BMW disks ETK TIS & ETM recently purchased from ebay. parts catalogue, shop manual & wiring diagrams. if you want them you can have them for what i paid and I will post them to you. ask horsetan for his links to blower fan transistor pack repair guide on the net.

its essential to buy disk sets that include the ETM, most of the ebay ones don't I find. I will accept £10 for them. I imported them from the USA as this is where the ETM disks come from. If you PM your address I will pos tthem tomorrow and Ian can enjoy them over the weekend.
