Can anyone tell me which of the three wires to connect to,to test the
electric radiator fan on my E46 318i.The car runs at normal mid
position whilst driving, but when stood at tickover, gets almost into
red of guage without fan operating, that is when i turned engine off,and
left the ignition lights on to see if the fan would cut in,but it
doesnt. I have just replaced the header tank, thermostat and pressure
cap, because the header tank split open with a bang and I believe the
overheating due to fan be the fault{is there a method for testing the
fans heat sensor, and where is it located Thankyou Paul.

Try posting this in the 3 series technical forum - will probably get a better response.
