Just a passing thought - does anyone know the correct vinyl plastic decals (the ones that run down the side of the car) for my car (the 'go faster stripes' if you like).

At the moment its got 2 thin pinstripes, one light grey and one dark grey - they are genuine BMW as I have seen other 6's with them,

The other type are the 2 inch thick type, which also has another piece on the front spoiler below the bumper. They were silver on dark cars, and black on lighter ones

I was just wondering what are correct for my 2/1985 made 635. Its diamond black. Were there any dates associated to these, or was it simply a random thing that BMW did.

Your Feb. 1985 car should have the silver "knife blade" type. Oddly enough there was a change - *groan* - from about mid-1985 (I think) or possibly early 1986 onwards.....

It's really up to what you feel either

- looks best in your eyes; or

- is historically correct

For me, I only ever had the silver "knife blade" decals, so I bought lots of spares, just in case....
