Just read in the Daily Express, that the Halbeith branch of ASDA has been selling unleaded petrol contaminated with diesel.

More than 300 people have filled up unaware that it was contaminated. Affected pumps were Nos 5,6,9 and 10. These pumps have now been turned off.

The problem was caused by a contract delivery driver who mistakenly topped up the unleaded with the diesel.

They reckon any damage can be put right by a garage and that they will reimburse people if they contact the customer service desk.

Hope no-one here is affected?

Not as much as you would imagine

If it were the other way round Petrol in Diesel then that is more serious

Depends on how much fuel you put in i guess, but a little diesel would only smoke slightly and will clean out engine also

Em no Mell is right.

Diesel in a petrol is game over!

Petrol in a diesel isn't a problem.

Petrol is far thinner than diesel so diesel in a petrol system will clog up the fuel injectors rather nicely.

I can report that in the new generation of high pressure diesels they will run quite happily on petrol if filled up by a muppet who forgets,,,,

ermmm, diluted diesel in a petrol would be ok as long as not excessive. would ruin the cat and lambdas tho' & give the ECU something to think about!!!

You should be using Esso super unleaded or Shell no-up-tae-much (Optimax) anyway rather than Asda or such like.

Although if your affected I hope you get sorted ok.

Alan.
