Australia - The Right to Leave

Our Country - YOU Have the right - the right to leave !

After Sydney not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas lights and after hearing that the State of South Australia changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered.
This prompted the following editorial written by an Australian citizen. It was published in an Australian newspaper.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.
However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the
"politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility
that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles,
trial and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, Because God is part of our
culture.
If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go",
then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, And we really don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this.
But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our
Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".
If you aren't happy here then b=+=+= off! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.
Pretty easy really, when you think about it.

I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it
will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try,
please.

Sadly there is no way us Brit's could adopt this for fear or being called hypocritical, after all we are the ones who sent Chrisitian missionary's all over the globe to teach "the Christian way" and to "improve" the lives of our foreign friends.

Besides, my understanding of Australia is that it was a country "owned" by aborginals until us British bothered them and then thought it a good place to dump our criminals and convert to the Christian way...  So who's culture is the right one? those who lived there or those IMMIGRANTS who took over the country....

Same with most countries, and as the world becomes smaller (i.e. it's easier to travel) it is hardly intelligent to expect countries to only allow those of the same culture etc. to live there - In Britian we would have very few Doctors for a start.  And you only have to look at foreign resort/holiday destinations to see the effect our culture has on those resorts and the area - we ruin it. 

Besides, wouldn't we all be speaking Gallic if it wasn't for immigrants...

Sorry to rant but it annoys me when people write things like the above which contradict themselves but don't have the brain power to see it...  We should accept new cultures as we forced ours onto others (but this is ok because we are British...), I'm not naive, it is not acceptable to bomb people for your cause, if you are Asian, British, Irish, whatever, forced violance (bombs/murder) is not part of sharing cultures, it's part of forcing your belief onto others - like us good old British used to do in 100's of countries - that is wrong.

I respect other cultures and countries when there and would never force my way in their country.  all i ask is the same courtesy in return.

I agree in part with the sentimets of the writer but I also agree with some of Bryce's comments.

If people come to our country then they should accept our customs and way of life etc. After all you wouldn't dream of going into your local pub and asking them to stop serving alcohol because it offends you. We have a right to live our lives the way we want and should not be forced to change because our customs may offend people will intollerant beliefs. However most of the people doing the complaining are not imigrants or ethnic minorities, they are middle class, middle aged white people who spend their lives thinking up new ways to be politically correct.

WRT Australia, good point Bryce, the only indigenous people are the aboriginies (spelling?)

While I agree that a few things in this country should change, like tollerating these fundamentallist islamic clerics that preach hatred, we should also be careful that this is not used by organisations like the BNP to further their own racist goals.

They do not eat pork over there.  Daz syas fair enough I'll just eat pork when I get home.  I don't go causing a big fuss or declaring war on all that cross my path.  Life is too short for that crap.  If your not happy then move on buddy....

i have to agree

.i live in a multi race city ;were we all seem to get on .ok  walking down the street and hearing 5 diffrent languages been spoken could seem a bit weird to other ;but to me its normal 'and iam as white as a piece of plain A4 paper ;and the other cultures that live here still follow the code of english law and abide by them . 

and it only is the middle class that seem to do the moaning ...perhaps they carnt handle change ??? do they hold a seat in parliment and never get to see the real uk??? who knows
