I've just bought a 1997 M3 Evo coupe.  I was thinking of fitting a K&N air filter, but after reading comments on this forum, they seem to have a poor affect on low end power.  I don't want to fit an induction kit, just a replacement element, so it looks standard.

BMC seems to be a popular choice. Can anybody recommend if the BMC replacement air filter is any good or are they a complete waste of time and money. I realise the power gain would be minimal, but was hoping it would make the car a bit more responsive. Would really appreciate any advice?
