Hello all

I have recently purchased as CD Changer for my 1997 E36 under the advise it would fit directly in. However I have just found out it is a CD Changer for an E39 5 series. The plug in my boot has about 8-pins, is there any adaptor I can get so as it fits and would it even work on a E36

Many Thanks

Newbie Jimbosarmy (still wet behind the ears)

I don't think there is an adapter I'm afraid. BMW are well known for this sort of thing. The E36 changer is unique to the E36, and there are several versions of those depending on model year.

On the plus side, depending on what version you have (there are 2) the E39 changer will work in an E46, an X5, a Z8 or the new Z4. The other version will work in an E39 and an E46. So if you can't get it working, there are plenty of people you can sell it to.

If you post the part number from the back of the unit, I'll let you know exactly which cars it will work in.
