front right light?

Why, does anybody know, would the front right dim-light come on for absolutely no reason...no tinkering with wires etc etc...the battery ran dead obviously...

also...could poor idling coupled with what seems like flickering of the lights be a faulty alternator rather than a dirty idel control valve?

I removed a lot of the dash this evening looking for crossing wires or a bad earth...hmph...but I love it really
